STATEMENT

Todd Clark was born in Calgary, Alberta in 1963 and now lives on the Sunshine Coast, BC. A self-taught artist, he works on canvas and board using oils. His landscapes denote an integrated territory: neither internal nor external, they are vistas governed by the ecology of form and colour.

Although he acknowledges the influence of other contemporary Canadian artists, his work does not seek to be part of a tradition. Often his approach is in opposition to established notions of landscape painting – at times works may be deliberately enigmatic.
