![]() Bill Wilkinson: Born in Montreal in 1950, I grew up with a passion for sketching, painting and fabricating art objects. In my youth, I often hitch-hiked the coasts of Maine and Cape Cod with art supplies in my pack. My art training under numerous West Coast artists such as Svob, Wylie and Northcott led to a painting trip to Italy where I decided to paint full-time. I am currently living and painting in Tsawwassen, a small seaside community south of Vancouver. My work is now available in a number of galleries from Kelowna to Baltimore including Vancouver Art Gallery. I have always tended towards mixed media in my work, experimenting with various mediums, surfaces and methods of application. My images evolve from my fascination with language, communication, pattern and chaos. Solo Exhibitions: Art Ark Gallery, Kelowna; The Fort Gallery, Fort Langley; Alliance Francaise Gallery, Calgary; Emily Carr Gallery, Vancouver. Group Exhibitions: Federation Gallery, Vanocuver, Fort Gallery, Fort Langley; Jacana Gallery, Vancouver; Art Ark Gallery, Kelowna; Arts Council of New Westminster, New Westminster; Gallery Vertigo, Vernon. Awarded the Michael den Hertog Award (AFCA); Collection of Orrick International, Baltimore, MD.; Active Member of the Federation of Canadian Artists; Former Executive of the Fort Gallery Art Collective |
