![]() Statement Annie Siegel was born in New York and moved to British Columbia in 1970. She has been living on Denman Island since 1989 and spends her time painting and playing music. Her art education includes a BA in Fine Arts and studies at the Art Students League, New York, and the University of BC. Annie has been working as a professional artist, musician and teacher for 35 years. Her teaching career in the arts includes painting, drawing, composition, design, figure drawing, and Northwest Coast Indian Art. Her paintings are in private collections and are represented in galleries on the West Coast of British Columbia. Annie Siegel’s work combines drawing, painting and collage in figure and landscape themes. Her Coastal Landscape paintings explore the beauty and power of the West Coast environment in a multi-faceted perspective that incorporates realism with the imagination. The ”Beneath the Surface” series embodies elements of the tidal landscapes of Vancouver Island and introduces another dimension - what the eye sees is only the top layer of reality. She integrates the use of collage, acrylics and ink on rice paper and tissue paper with the mixed media of pastel, colored pencils, watercolor and acrylic on watercolor paper. |
