Brian Depew is a modern realist painter and award winning watercolorist. He was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. Currently he lives in a house nestled in the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains, painting in a studio where he has worked for the past 18 years. Brian began his "self imposed" art education at the age of twelve, culminating in a degree in fine art. He has traveled and painted extensively throughout Italy. A major influence in his artistic development has been the work of Winslow Homer. The work of Brian Depew is at once complex and surprisingly simple. He works in variety of media and his approach is fresh and direct from nature. His paintings can be found in art collections internationally.
