It is the technology of choice for many top artists and photographers because of its exceptional ability to preserve the integrity of the artwork or photograph. The image quality, sharpness, color saturation, richness of detail and the depth of black and white of Giclée prints is unparalleled. Giclee prints have a lifespan of 100 years or more. Giclée prints on paper can be completed traditionally by mounting and framing, we also offer flush and float mounting on medium density fibre board. Canvases are always coated with a liquid laminate, then you can choose to have it/them shipped to you, rolled, for stretching locally, or we can stretch your canvases for you. During the summer of 2012 we have developed a new presentation for canvas, in the style of Chinese Scrolls, which are being very well received. But it doesn't end there, we also now offer printing on aluminum which gives your work startling clarity, depth and saturation. Certificates of Authenticity are available on request. It will be handled professionally and photographed with care and precision. At the heart of our digital photography studio is a Better Light Super 6K-HS high-resolution 4x5 digital camera back, with a maximum file size of 618 MB, 9000 pixels x 12000 pixels x 6 bytes per pixel, coupled with a Wista 4x5 view camera and German lenses, resulting in a stunning digital capture of your artwork. Flawless prints can be made 4 to 5 times larger than the original with no loss of sharpness and no pixelation. Another important advantage of having the original here is that we can carry out the colour corrections with the original to refer to, ensuring complete accuracy. If we don't do the photography... We recommend you have your artwork scanned on a flatbed scanner or photographed by a professional on a 4x5 or medium format camera with a digital back. A photographer experienced in the reproduction of fine art should be able to provide us with a correctly exposed colour chart that will enable us to create a unique colour profile for your digital images. Additionally, the inclusion of a grey scale or 18% gray card within the image area will greatly enhance our ability to achieve correct color matching. (We encourage you to put us in touch with your photographer prior to the shoot to give us the opportunity to discuss these technical issues.) Then send us the image files, preferably tiffs (save for PC) on a CD-R or DVD. Scanning of transparencies or negatives: This is carried out to the highest degree of resolution and sharpness that will give the optimum enlargement and sharpness from a given piece of film. Storage space is not an issue, so we archive the largest possible file to meet any needs that you might have in the future regardless of your immediate requirements. At a price you'd expect to pay for low res scans elsewhere. System Time/Proofing: Necessary adjustments to the density, contrast, saturation, color balance, etc. as required plus cleaning of dust, scratches and any other unwanted elements. If you would like enhancements or changes to any specific colors or other image qualities, the image can be manipulated to your specifications. Approval: Before the final printing of your image commences, you have the option to sign-off on the approved test, or prints produced without sign-off are done so on the understanding that they are supplied "as is" and cannot be unreasonably rejected.

MiMa strives for the highest quality in their work and really care about the artist's satisfaction." Annie Siegel, Artist, Denman Island, BC "Knowing my mixed media work is difficult to photograph, I was absolutely delighted to see the quality of the images from MiMa. They were seamlessly lit, bright, clear .. so close to the originals that I can use them for reference. This has been my first foray into limited edition prints and Mark has been wonderful to work with. He involved me in every part of the process and consulted me on every image. He is a perfectionist!" Bill Wilkinson, Artist, Vancouver, BC REPRODUCTIONS WITH THE LOOK OF ORIGINAL ART That look depends on our experience and know-how to light and photograph the original so that accurate colour, texture and detail comes through in the final print. The production of our limited edition giclée prints is a combination of the finest papers, canvases, inks, photographic and printmaking equipment with our skill and experience and your involvement throughout every phase of the process. The quality being superior to other methods of reproduction, you can command a higher selling price for the prints. Whenever possible, printing on the same material as an original painting gives each piece the look and feel of the original work of art. For example, opaque water based paint on paper reproduces well on paper, but for an oil based work on canvas, printing on canvas and treating with a clearcoat will better imitate the effect of the original. Mixed-media on board looks best on a smooth paper (the texture of canvas interferes with the detail) and can be further enhanced by being treated with a laminate. We will advise you as to the best media to use for the job on sight of the originals. Mixed-media works incorporating reflective surfaces such as metallic paint or even metal itself can be very effectively reproduced. The problem of having the reflective surfaces "shine" whilst not washing out the colour in the rest of the work is overcome by making two exposures with the lights coming from different directions for each. Then in PhotoShop the reflective surfaces are "selected" from the image file in which they shine and superimposed onto the image file in which the rest of the painting is appropriately lit. This is time consuming but worth the effort, as shown by the two examples below.
Further, to enhance the effect of different surfaces in a mixed-media original, a mask can be made to enable selective clearcoating or varnish can be applied to specific areas of the print by us or by you.
