Grid 13 by Bill Wilkinson
At MiMa we present varied and exceptional Contemporary Fine Art by some of the best BC and Canadian Artists: Over 500 finest museum-quality Giclée Print Editions, on canvas or archival watercolor papers, produced in-house. The giclees are mostly small editions of 25-250, some large editions of 1500 and some open editions. New editions can be created to fit within the parameters of a particular project. Custom sizing is available.

We can also source Original Paintings, Photography, Mono Prints, Etching, Stone Lithography, Sculpture, Fabric Art and even Marquetry from the network of artists that we are in contact with. (Many of whom we already have agreements in place with, to represent them as agents.)

You can rely on our expertise and extensive experience in placing art in both corporate and private settings, to select the right art for a particular space. We look forward to discussing your project with you in the near term.

Consultation > Installation
Art is the unifying factor that ties together all the different environmental and design aspects of the space. Knowing where to position a piece of art, what size, what colors, what works, why it works and on how many levels, taking into account all relevant environmental factors. We offer you this experience backed by years of excellence in application.

Contact us for an introductory meeting: We will be pleased to show you our collections, gallery and production facilities here on Denman Island, or if you prefer we will visit you with a portfolio at your premises.

Stretched Canvas

Each Frame is Custom-Made by Hand by a local craftsman from sustainably sourced timber. Our frames are always "over-built", the corner bracing and cross-bracing should ensure long-term stability beyond the normal call of duty. Once stretched they are neatly and securely finished at the back and arrive ready to hang.

Scrolls on canvas are elegant, lightweight and will roll up into a tube. Years of experience in different forms of framing artworks have gone into developing a product that works with available materials suitable for use with canvas. The result has been a resounding success with our galleries and their clients. Artists and photographers love this method due to the ease of storage, transporting/shipping and hanging.

Flush and Float Mounting Flush and Float Mounting

Watercolour Rag Paper, Mounted and Laminated onto Fibre Board.

Protected from the front: Non-glare, UV-blocking laminate finish, giving protection from fading and water damage.

Protected from the back: Adhered with traditional acid-free dry mounting tissue, creating an acid-free barrier between the fibre board and the print.

A one inch molding is adhered to the back, either flush with the edge of the wood giving a clean and contemporary look, or inset two inches all round so that the face of the panel appears to float off the wall, an effect that is ideal for recessed walls and niches.

Below: "Zitto (Be Quiet)" and "North Shore" by Bill Wilkinson, printed on archival rag paper at the same size as the originals, 36 inches square. The original artworks are mixed media on panel, so Flush Mounting gives a perfect reproduction of that effect.

Variation on Black Square no.1, by Eva Sova Art for the Workplace

Consider putting our flair, experience and expertise to the test. We’ll work with you towards a corporate art solution that works for everyone sharing the space. You can subcontract as much of the work to us as you wish, including proposing a selection based on your or your client's criteria, printing and framing, overseeing shipping and even installation.

Art is an essential ingredient in the design of any workplace: Along with the furnishing it deserves at least equal priority, but does so much more to enhance and project a company's image.

Art reflects a company’s values: Contemporary Art demonstrates commitment to the present whilst investing in the future.

Art reinforces and enhances corporate image: It enriches the corporate culture for the people who work there. Time needs to be taken to understand the company, its image, needs, goals, employees, clients, space, furnishings, as well as the budget.

Art makes a lasting impression on clients and business partners: Strive for balance, simplicity and beauty in the given space to complete it with art that belongs, expresses & nourishes the space.

Art communicates and inspires: It challenges, encourages originality. Many corporations today understand that art can open up individuals, giving them new ways of seeing the world. The thinking processes of employees are stimulated by the influence of art in their work environment, sometimes directly, sometimes subconsciously. Art can even be provocative, fostering discussion, sometimes heated...

May 2008 - April 2011 we showcased Canadian artists in the Bay's flagship store on Granville Street, Vancouver, the Bay located in The Bay Centre, Victoria Downtown and in the Bay, Nanaimo.

Canadian Artists Displayed in 'the Bay' Flagship Stores, Vancouver & Victoria

In Vancouver there were over 350 works including original paintings, photography, original prints and small editions of museum quality limited edition giclée prints on canvas and paper. They could be found throughout the furniture department on the 6th floor and in our gallery on the 5th floor.

In Victoria there were approximately 200 artworks from our giclee editions portfolio throughout the furniture department on the 4th floor and in the Harbour View Restaurant on the 5th floor.

With so much art on display, coordinated with interior decor, we made it easy for you and your clients to imagine how it could look in your client's (or even your own) home or business. At and since the Vancouver launch in September 2008, several designers told us that they loved the art and the experience of taking their clients there to walk around the 5th and 6th floors to select art for their project.
